“Being a servant means giving up the right to control
your schedule and allowing God to interrupt it
whenever God needs to.”
Someone recently showed me this quote from a devotion
book he was reading. I thought it was
fitting for today. Today is Maundy
Thursday. We get the word ‘Maundy’ from
the old Latin word meaning ‘mandate’ which was a reference to Christ’s command
found in John 13:34, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (NRSV).
So, as we remember Christ’s mandate made long ago, may we
ponder the ways that mandate impacts the way we live our lives today.
Happy Holy Thursday!
Peace,
B
